There are always going to be poor and needy people
among you. So I command you: Always be generous, open purse and hands, give to

them as princes sitting in the seats of honor. For all the earth is the Lord's and

of view, is the one who takes care of orphans and widows, and who remains true
to the Lord--not soiled and dirtied by his contacts with the world. James 1:27

Is not this the kind of fasting I
have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the
yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food
with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to
clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Isa.
58:6-7
Do not merely listen to the word,
and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22
